There is hate and there is love and there is loss

I’ve been spending all of my time
Listening to all of these sad, sad records
Wondering if I’ll ever learn
How to function in a society
That refuses to love anyone or anything
I am losing myself in this reverie
I don’t know if my views accord
With any philosophy that my teachers sing.
This is a world of unforgivable crime
Skin breaks under a chemical burn

Politicians promise to bomb foreign lands
Each and every move funded by extortion
I was born into a world of disparity
And I have done nothing to change this
I can’t count the times I’ve felt so sorry
For the women who receive no parity.
For the children who receive no charity
For the foreign people on who we continue to piss
And there is blood on every single person’s hands
And some of us aren’t even sorry

There are still those among us who hate and disparage
The rights others seek in relation to marriage
Euroskepticism has us on the verge of crisis
Telling us that Islam equals Isis
And Irish people should understand this prosecution
Our innocent sons and daughters received their executions
We trade flags of purest white snow
And seek a world of sorrow.
